Involvement
While your assessor will do all that he or she can to help you to obtain your NVQ/SVQ, they will require you to gather various information to help with this process. This is much more evident with a Level 3 qualification. Listen carefully to you assessor when they are creating the assessment plan, they will tell you what is required for the next assessment. They will tell you what evidence you need to collect and they will explain how this evidence will relate to your NVQ. Don't worry they will only ask you to collect evidence that occurs naturally in your work based activities. This could be time sheets, records of training etc.
The candidate has two main roles. Firstly to demonstrate that they can perform to National Standards in order to be assessed so that they can be awarded an NVQ or SVQ (Full or Units). Their second role is to take some responsibility for the quality of evidence presented to their assessor. |
What is the point of a CV?
CV stands for Curriculum Vitae, and is a record of your past work history and experience. It shows your experience in your job role and adds weight to any other evidence that you collect. It's the best starting point for your NVQ/SVQ portfolio as it informs everyone about your experience and background.
What should your CV contain?
Some suggestions:
- Career history to date, starting with the current job role
- Any Awards or achievements you may have
- Any relevant background information such as hobbies or pastimes.
- Particular experience relative to the NVQ or SVQ you are taking
Evidence
Your assessor will be able to tell you the observations he will need to make to check that you meet the required standard, but he cannot possibly be with you every time that relevant evidence occurs. Be aware of this, and if anything out of the ordinary occurs, gather what evidence you can about it and show it to them at your next assessment meeting This is important as an NVQ or SVQ is a statement of your ability to work to National Standards over a period of time, not just on a series of observations.
